Found this in an article dated Feb 2001. Maybe old news.
Philips Components has teamed with National Semiconductor and Transmeta to build a chassis for Web appliances to be OEMed to device makers. The one-piece assembly includes the choice of a Transmeta TM3400 or a National SC3200 Geode microprocessor mounted on a 10.5in. thin film transistor (TFT) panel made by Philips' Korean partner LG LCD.
Using the Philips do-it-yourself kit, OEMs can build appliances running Windows CE 3.0, Mobile Linux, or Linux operating systems with minimal effort. Philips intends to offer Bluetooth and 802.11 radio networking capability in later versions.
