So you are in favor of castration as a penalty for having sick fantasies if the person doesn't actually act them out on anyone? Children are the only minority in my opinion that deserve special protection. He may eventually enable himself or someone else to carry out acts of violence against a child thru his own fantasy role playing. Castration would be an effective cure and while it might not stop the desire it would stop dead the ability to carry them out. There is no way to effectively treat or deal with a pedophile. He or she has given up all rights to their sexuality once they cross that line. I recall reading about these taboos in The Golden Bough and Sex and Repression in Savage Society. Consensus opinion with respect to these taboos is on my side. Maybe one of kholt's hypothetical Hindu's has a better way to deal with this. I say, forget jail save the money and deal effectively to protect minority rights.
