trindy, i use a ratio similar to carl swenlin, but i use the amount of bullish money in the switching funds and leave out the sector funds to find a bullish consensus, at the april low the funds hit a bullish percent of 37%, a couple of days ago they hit 42%, the high's during the bubble were 80%, it was 80% at the sept top, absolute percentage or number's aren't a guarantee of a turning point, but when they get to excessive #'s, i try to find other indicators that may point to the market running out of steam in whichever trend it's following, swenlin uses bollinger bands on the ratio chart to show when sentiment is running to a st extreme.
