I was confused all last week about how come news that they had lost almost all their earnings on the stock market was good news.

Paul, as I posted at the time, the market was teetering on the edge ... and a perceived warning from MSFT would have dropped it quick and hard, with futures lock limit down rather than lock limit up. Legitimate shorts were burned badly through manipulation ... and its not the first time. There is so much stock and fewer players, so manipulation is rife, with some managers able to 'manage' some stocks by the sheer size of their funds moving in and out. It seems to me that the goose that lays the golden eggs for many in the business will likely get cooked for dinner ... a sure recipe for short term satisfaction and long term strife for those in the business. Still ... perhaps that's what the system needs ...
