Million Customer Care and Billing Contract with - Manitoba Telecom Services
Inc. (MTS)

Toronto, Ontario, Jul 19, 2001 (Market News Publishing via COMTEX) -- Compaq
Canada Corp. announced that it has been awarded a $5.2 million systems
integration contract to provide MTS Communications Inc. (MTS) with an integrated
solution for its next generation billing and customer care needs for 2001 and
beyond. Under the terms of the contract, Compaq will supply MTS with the
UshaComm Customer Care & Billing system, professional systems integration
services, Compaq's leading edge AlphaServer(TM) platform running Tru64(TM) UNIX,
StorageWorks(TM) technology and three years of Customer Services support.

functions within MTS reflects Compaq's extensive experience in architecting
customer care and billing solutions," said Andy Canham, Vice President, Western

Global banking group ABN AMRO has selected Compaq over IBM, HP and Dell for its first-ever Intel-based hardware global standardization contract.

Valued at $120 million, this one- to two-year contract will support 120,000 employees worldwide and includes desktops, workstations, laptops and monitors, as well as Windows 2000, active directory and utility services.
