<More likely they will vote in politicians who will redistribute wealth via inflation and taxation. Majority rule is rarely benevolent.>

True, and NZ is already full of people voting themselves rich. Our economy is going down the gurgler as a result. I wonder if productive people will become migrants, seeking the best country which doesn't rip them off. China, which doesn't have mob rule, might turn out to be worker's paradise. That would be ironical. A cliche is that a benevolent dictator is the best government. Benevolent mob-rule is unheard of.

<<Retirement is a modern concept ... Many … don't really retire anyway … they'll stay there until they drop>>

<… Working by choice is freedom. Working by necessity is recipe for revolt.>

Hang on there, everyone has to work [or bludge off somebody else, such as taxpayers or by crime]. I include owning and managing capital as working.

I don't see what basis a spendthrift 65 year old would have for revolting because they suddenly decide the world owes them a living?!! I say shoot the revolting people who would steal from others. China does that. War, [civil], in that instance would be economically productive as per CB's war-is-good theorem. Maybe I should seek immigrant status in China now that they don't mind capitalists, black cats or white cats. They will also have a lot of CDMA, which I like.
