Re: My thoughts on analyst comments day of earnings

When a big brokerage firm step out on day of earnings with comments on a stock, especially middle of the day, I have found that about 90% of the time those comments are right on the money.

A large firm and their analyst just wouldnt put their reputation on the line without having some insider knowledge.
There are always exceptions, but I am speaking in general here.

Evryone would remember a bad call on day of earnings, so they cant afford to be wrong.

This particular point has made me tons of money over the years on earnings plays.

Re: NETA
Seeing those comments from Morgan Stanley at 2.30pm was a very bad sign for my short.

I was originally planning on adding at the close, instead I almost covered several times before the close.

Normally I would go long in that spot (maybe even a triple position because of the timing) but I was so convinced of my logic (ISSX and RSAS huge warnings) I talked myself into holding my short.

This was simply a bad decision on my part.
I think if NETA as still green by 11am tomorrow and the NAZ is getting hammered, NETA is a huge long then.
I will watch the trading closely, they could easily see 16s in a week after what seemed like a very solid report.

Also, the chinese hack attack on 10K severs today could add fuel also.

Best Wishes
MIchail

Took a chance. Figured MS new something to release something like that late in the day before earnings. Long story, but unfortnately ended up covering at $11.90 something for a few bucks (in at 11.30) something. I meant to hold it until tomorrow. Am quickly tiring of Datek as the system seems to be incredibly slow at times. Execution time always seems top notch once they have the order, but the servers seem overloaded frequently these days. Lost about 3/4 of a point on VTSS tonight wondering if my order was in or not. Didn't want to place a double order, so had to fire up a second browser, wait what seemed like minutes to get the daily activity screen, and then resubmit the order and wait while "waiting for reply". Can anyone recommend a good direct access broker. I've heard some good things about IBD.

Thanks!

Steve

I didn't play NETA. I'm so confused by the market (and bounced around by a family bereavement) right now that I have only one position open: short full position DTHK at 14.75 average. And I'll probably cash out half of that at the open if it opens below my cost.

My expectation is to be much more active in trading in a few weeks. Real life is too complicated right now.
