Yet you seem to support a woman's right to kill her baby for any reason,(for instance, sex selection or Downs syndrome, or just want to party) at any time up until and including the very act of birth.

I support the right of women to their own body. They are not evil. Their instinct to love and nurture is incredibly strong. Late stage abortions are rare, and undertaken for extreme reasons (not to "party", Greg). They are also very risky.

I don't pay much attention to late stage abortions because I think it is safe to assume that most rational people would support and trust the judgement of the doctor and the mother who had almost carried her unborn to full term. It is the 90% of abortions that take place in the first 84 days after conception--that period in which "unwanted" pregnancies are terminated--which seem to invite disagreement.

When a couple is expecting a child they always say we're having a baby

And if they are "expecting" to have a child/baby, then they will likely have one--provided that Mother Nature cooperates with them for 9 months.

What constitutes a human being?????????

For those who don't believe in souls, perhaps the question should be something else. In any case, if we are to honor the principle of equal rights, then I would think we ought to define a legal person as an entity receiving a separate, distinct, and unique existence through the act of birth and the simultaneous process of individuation from the mother's body, organ system, bloodstream, and chemical necessaries of life.

You have continually used insulting and derogatory terms for the early stages of human development. WHY?

Descriptive terms such as smudge of yolk to describe a few cells in a petrie dish are accurate and emotionally neutral--which is what is wanted in order to avoid argument from "emotion". Such descriptions are not insulting. There is no consciousness there to insult. These cells are not aware, they are not cute, and they are not cuddly. They are no more representative of how aware humans interface with the universe, than would be iron oxite. As actual cells they are no better or worse than cat cells or mice cells. It is in their potential that we accord them value. If they were always to remain the same, they would have no value to the universe. But we value them for what they have the possibility of becoming--little children climbing on our knees and running off to school, and making their mark in the world for good or for ill.

God or Mother Nature will abort 25 to 75 % of these zygotes. Sometimes the mother will choose to abort them after consultation with her doctor. I believe it is best to trust the judgement of the woman and her doctor in these matters. Many people in society believe they have a moral interest in the woman's body, and they would like to make it a legal interest so that they could use legitimate force in the furtherance of their goals for the contents of her womb. I think such ideas are barbaric, and ought to be opposed.

For those who consider that they have a right to another's body, however, let me remind them of this: 25 to 75 % of these DNA human beings are spontaneously aborted within 2 weeks of conception. If men keep their penis in their pants, the killing of these "babies, humans, kids", etc. can be averted. It is your intercourse which is responsible for more deaths of these little "kids" than induced abortion will ever be responsible for. Most of these "pregnancies" are never even known about. You want to start messing with the rights of people to their own bodies, then look in the mirror--because we are going to start with yours...
