mindmeld.....That's risky. Anything can happen at the earnings release

That is correct... What we have seen thus far with tech stocks is a pretty consistent pattern for this earnings season.
1) a modest stock price run up during the week prior to earnings.

2) virtually no tech company is announcing any visibility this quarter (must be the fashion this month)

3)Reduced expectations for the next quarter (what else is new)

4) Some layoffs to maintain an effort to future profitability

5) An announcement that we are using this time to strengthen of technological base.

6) a stock price run up after earnings are announced

This is the pattern I have seen thus far. My examples would be MOT, NVLS, XLNX and TER

In my opinion CSCO will not change the pattern.
