jp - I think you and I are really on the same page after all. That Naz collapse last fall was a lot more than the average annual October massacre ritual.

The frustrating part is that this sideways "trader's market" is turning out to be extremely difficult to trade, even for experienced investors. It's full of whipsaws and mixed signals because traders are taking small profits at light speed before they evaporate. That's why we can't seem to make any headway in either direction lately.

I agree with you, whether this ultimately resolves to the upside or downside, this chop could go on for a long, long time.

jpdunwell: For the NYSE stocks, there has been less damaage, but the Nasdaq companies have indeed been damaged badly and they should take longer to recover.

I will trade based on what the technicals appear to be saying, and you may be correct in that trading may still be the order of the day, especially for some tech stocks on the Nasdaq.

We shall see what kind of a bottom we may fashion and how oversold we get.
