Dear Andreas and Dan:

Market share for AMD average for Q1 was 21%, and average for Q2 was 22.2% by Mercury. For June alone, it could be 25% for AMD and at the CC, Jerry used the more conservative number for all of Q2 (April, May, and June). Intel's basis for 80+% was for US retail only and could include things that AMD doesn't (the basis was not stated anywhere). Gantners numbers are for world wide and we know that AMD does far better outside the US (Europe and Japan where Intel lost revenue at a higher rate). This number is far more significant.

I suspect that the Intel figure refers to a very short period like sales for June 30 only. Day to day rates are very volatile and could easily bounced for Intel on a given day (AMD could using that justification hold a majority of the market, say 60% itself given the right period). More and more, the Intel numbers do not add up.
