mm - I don't think anything sustainable will occur unitl business start seeing increased sales. All this technical stuff and shorts/longs etc is of very little consequence. What counts is sales. When will NT see their business increase, when will JDSU see its business increase?

Talk that people over bought and that all this capital equipment was not necessary is based merely upon the cutbacks that have oocured as corporate planners got thier sharp penicls out and started conserving cash. Thats what downturns are about and bad downturns of which this is one of the worst in history are likely to turn into fullscale depressions when the cutbacks just increase as companies try to stay alive.

All this other jargon is irrelevant. Survival is what many companies around the world are about. The fight against inflation has turned nito the fight to conserve cash.

Even earnings are secondary. Forget about the earnings jsut conserve cash. Have you seen the companies recently that have been reproting and that had great cash positions last year now have a lot less and another year and they will be out of cash. I have seen a few and good names too.

I'll bet you that the urge to survive overcomes anything and that means cut out everything unnecessary. Forget earnings just give me a plan to maximise cash. How a,many corporate planners are working on this right now?

Best regards,

L
