<<Ish, your romantic rendezvous restaurant is included in this month's Lands' End catalogue's cover story >>

Ah yes, where Sherry kissed me, eat your heart out. We had lunch there twice and it was a pleasure. I'd have lunch with Sherry anytime.

The Dixie started out years ago back when Route 66 was the 2 lane road of the Grapes of Wrath fame. 100 yards to the west the old 66 still exists.

I remember going there when they still had the original building in the 50s. A counter with a dozen stools and 6 booths. Clocks for time zones around the world. My grandmother lived in Armington but went to church in Atlanta and that was the breakfast stop on the way home. I spent two summers with her, not a broken home but my parents were traveling. Being a kid in a town of 300 wasn't bad.

Anyway, The Dixie burned down in the early 60s and a much larger building was built. Nice eatery and quarters for truckers. When Sherry and I met there it had been expanded, remodeled and nice. They have Broasted Chicken. 3 months ago they filed, and four all 4 Dixies, bankruptcy. They have been bought and will carry on.
