The reasons you posted might give us $290/oz. Lost credibility of the Wall St. & others, growing fear among boomers of not being able to enjoy retirement (they will not), confusion of governing bodies (they might be replaced as well with simple referendum system), will force any thinking human to search protection. Demographics and psychology are the two factors which always drive the market.

Ya know if I worked at some brokerage firm and had a bit of insider info about this I could predict a price drop----well most times I guess.
