Jim-

Hmmm...So the new TM is not "Megahertz sells" but "MHz is the most important factor in pricing a CPU?" Very big change in the original concept, IMO.

Jim,

Uh - yeah - Ok I'm missing your point???
I haven't seen anyone state "MHz is not the most important factor in pricing a CPU ".

What I'm saying is Megahertz doesn't sell and that's why ASP's have nosedived. Unfortunately "Megahertz sold" and Gigahurtz don't. I think we all wish for the good old days, but they're not coming back in the near future and maybe never at all.

The scary part is that AMD will force Intel to severely drop the mobile chip prices. A war on the desktop front is fine and dandy, but "scorched Earth" with the mobile sector will mean permanent damage( huge lost bottom line dollars) to both companies. Japan will be ground zero in the mobile war then the States afterward. Watch the numbers in Japan it'll be interesting...

Intel had done an excellent job producing the P4, now the marketing must change to sell them.

RE:"Jim, It's the price selling - not the frequency these days.
If frequency sold ASPs wouldn't have nosedived, Those 1.7GHz would have been flyin out the door, but they didn't and they still aren't now. Sad but true, speed isn't a draw card at all."
