Sleeping accomodations may not be as nice as on the River Boat but we'll travel faster. No shit, back in the 60s my cousin and several from the swim team launched canoes and took Sugar Creek to the Mackinaw to the Illinois to the Mississippi. Almost made it to the Gulf except they got caught stealing chickens to eat. Parents paid the fine and brought them home.
