JG - bush didn't cause this recession; greenspan did Quite right. But irrelevant. Bush is the President and the economy is collapsing. He has the unique distinction of being the second member of th Bush family to be president and it looks as if he will outperform his father in that his father presided over a relatively minor recssion whereas GW looks set to go into the history books as being President during one of the worst depressions in history.

greenspan did. Fed still not pumping the money supply enough Absolutely right except that who said that what is happening is not what the Fed wants to happen?

I have posted before that there is still a danger that the market could rally and people recover some of their losses and regain confidence in the market. My guess is that Mr G will not ease up relative to what is needed to get the economy to recover until that he has eliminated that danger.
