My Forest Service colleagues and I used to speculate that if they had given the job of going to the moon to the Forest Service, we would have beat the deadline, come in under budget, and probably turned a profit.

That is no longer true. We can't even make that claim for our own business any more, but it once was a point of pride. Things change.

I'm afraid I will be old or dead before there are human footprints on Mars. Really sad thing is, we could do it today. Wouldn't be easy, but nothing worth the effort ever is.
