I think the person who is upset is you, JF. And I am sorry you are. I am not much into political correctness, but I will always be against racists who want to cloak their fear of people of color, and the changing face of America, in the guise of a reaction to the pc police. You may feel what you wrote was not racist. I feel it was. I can't know for sure. Do you?

There are people who are not "pc" but who clearly have love in their hearts for their fellow men, regardless of color. There are people, good hearted people, who tell jokes (for example) that involve racial stereotyping- but if a person of color told them it was offensive they would stop. I have met some people like this. Nice people who had stereotypical ideas but who were not angry. I think you need to ask yourself why you are so angry about diversity. I don't think it is all about PC. Maybe it is. But that sure isn't what comes across.

Think about it.

I just read my post again. Not an angry word in it JF.

I wish you had explained that you had often frequented that place, Freddy. I think it would have made it more understandable why you were troubled by it. LIke X, what I saw was the emphasis on the "otherness" of the people who committed the crime and whether intentional or not, what comes across is that you are more offended by their race than by the vile nature of their crimes .

Do you know, at the USC orientation there was a very large number of Asians, and we weren't assaulted once!

Gangs have been in existence for hundreds of years among all peoples. Every immigrant group has developed them- particularly among the youth where belonging is so very important.

We all have these thoughts- I think it's just human to see people who are different as threatening in some way, or we try to find some way to distance people who do bad things from us (we could never be like taht)
but it seems important to me not to give in to group thinking or there's really no way out.

On the other hand, this language thing is a problem. Now THIS is serious. THe gardeners pulled out all my baby plants the other day after I carefully went out and told them to be careful; I pointed and shook my head as I spoke and they nodded and smiled- and when I went out later, they had pulled out every single one.
