When I was a teenager in Washington, I went to see Close Encounters of the Third Kind at an uptown movie theater. As I walked into the theater, I noticed a somewhat obese woman with a nice hairdo and eyes that were almost purple. She seemed to have a small entourage, and looked familiar. As I strolled down the aisle to my seat, I suddenly looked back with the realization that it was Liz Taylor, at the time married to Senator John Warner. There she was, standing, trying to arrange herself comfortably to sit down. Somehow, it was eerie to run into her in so ordinary a situation.......
