>>I sense we are at a temporary bottom for the
next few weeks (imho). If it was going to be ugly short term ,
I would have thought between IBM and MSFT they would
have brought us down. Furthermore is it not 6 months
prior to the start up of a new bull market that
one should be invested and have we not spent enough
time now with the bear historically ?<<

You may be right, and it may simply be my short term attitude
that initiated my response to your approach.
From a historical perspective this has been a long bear run,
but even bears get long in the tooth and eventually weary.
I guess if I were looking out as far as you, I'd be thinking
along similar lines.
But, I might be waiting until I actually saw the market turn up
and that may not be for a couple of months.
On the other hand, if you're correct, you'll be in at
very low levels.

Hi Gongo, The only time I have been burned lately was when I went on vacation <g> (seriously, all my positions were short and I was unable to watch them as closely as I should have). Maybe you are right and the market will turn up. I do not know, but would guess there is still downside given DrBob's and other SI folk's (who have good track records) reads. All I know is that the volatility has really shortened my timeframe in trading. Also, although I like BEAS, BRCD I do not view them as riskless (currently short QLGC disclaimer, among others). Feel similarly about SPY. Have a great time on vacation, tim
