TWICK: I assume since you posted this to me you will not mind me commenting. I illustrated the same formation on charts I posted earlier this week, only with the controlling points precisely anchored at highs and low. However, IMO pennants are symmetrical triangles originating from a sharp move up or down. However, if the formations requires more than an intraday to short-term time interval to form, I refer to them as symmetrical triangle regardless of the sharp move preceding the origination point.

While both formations portend a continuation of the trend. A pennant is more reliable than a symmetrical triangle per my experience. The pennant being a shorter-term formation is more likely to see the trend continue where the symmetrical triangle can behave much like a wedge when near a trend change and produce only a partial retrace.

All IMO of course, all things to keep an eye on...<g>
