I'll check that out later. I don't want to spoil a great birthday weekend. I will say, sometimes error is not lying, and sometimes there is nothing ready to hand to document a claim, for both sides. I only react badly when it seems evident the person was full of hot air, and I have cautioned my own side about throwing around the accusation of lying too freely.......

j-f, I I don't know what you proved, I made an observation about numbers you posted and proffered a rationale to explain my observations. My proffer was "it seems to me". Now my seems to me was based upon data and recollections. I had one recollection that compared information in a different way. I never expressed absolutes on this issue, only maybe.

You seem to have a need to put anything I said into an absolute when it not stated that way.

As to CO2 emissions from Germany, well in that they intend to shut down all nuclear plants and currently they use
per unit of gnp
25% more coal
1/8 as much Natual gas.
1/4 the hydro power
I don't see Germany doing much better. The US has for the last 30 years consistently reduced the amount of power used to produce each unit of GNP.

The other key factor overlooked in even the GDP comparisons is the the US produces much of the domestic oil it uses and this is a major contributor to CO2. Germany produces vitually no oil. BTU for BTU coal produces far more CO2 than oil or natural gas.
