The oil-and-gas research team at BMO Nesbitt Burns rates Petro-Canada, at "outperform."

The encouraging sign for them is PetroCan's recent $75-million (U.S.) purchase of Lundin's interests in an oil-development project in Libya.

"We consider this development positive for Petro-Canada since the oil is of excellent quality, and the area offers prospects for future developments," said the BMO team, which set a target price of $54 for the stock, well above its close of $36.95 Friday on the TSE.
