OT: this is a cool article. 19th-century railways and the present computer communications changes are an excellent analogy. The railway boom virtually destroyed the British economy about 20 years after what's described here, see the book "Devil Take the Hindmost". The American experience in 1929-34, based on the automobile and radio, is similar, but too emotive for a US audience.

My whole financial strategy is based on my expectation that this is the course the US economy will take the next few years. Including the fact that I'm here on this thread.
