Yes the British stockmarket has done terribly as has the pound since 1997. I guess eventually they'll both do better.

It's difficult to get someone who spent most of their life thinking in pounds to think in US dollars or Sheqalim instead. I've had partial success on that.

Of all non-US markets Australia has actually done best recently in USD terms (code EWA). Our market has gone up even though the currency has been trashed. So I've done better than if I'd been investing in Britain, or Japan, or Germany.
