"the NYTimes is a paper for serious news junkies"

Not just for news junkies, it the paper of record for most folks who need to know the facts be they now or later. They have a huge reputation and you know that. I agree with you on The Wash. Post. but the Wash. Times clearly has a right wing tilt and tends to be more sensational than the Post. No Zoltan did not fabricate facts when he stated the circulations of the Daily News and Times....that is well known but good literary works rarely outsell trash novels.
I have read the London Times a few times and agree it is very good but understandably focuses on European affairs...I think it has a more difficult cross word puzzle than the NYTimes which is plenty tough for me.
