Heratsink,“Otellini is a BSer You can say that Jerry is a con man, and there may be at least some truth. But Intel with their gross margins, stock portfolios that never take a loss, ASP's that don't show the effect of price wars... These guys are BSers.”

Now, now, now Heatsink, I think you speak about which you know not. Intel margins have fallen but nowhere near the amount that AMD margins have fell. Intel freely discusses margins with analyst and gives guidance re future expectations. AMD on the other hand will not discuss margin. Hey, this is your company. Needless to say that the biggest problem AMD has is their falling margins, which I don’t think the AMD investor, gives the proper attention to. Certainly not discussed on this thread. You guys are always concentrating on Intel margins, but Intel margins are still respectable and according to their guidance will continue to be.

Regarding Stock Portfolio losses, the last I check Intel total Stock Portfolio gains exceeded losses and I can’t think of any reason why they should be selling anything at a loss at this time. I am sure that if it were time to cut bait with a particular investment they would regardless of loss or gain. Personally I have confidence in their management of the portfolio. You know they did pretty well with their Micron investment didn’t they?

ASP’s have declined for both companies. AMD began cutting prices last August when they started the policy of 50% of equivalent Intel prices, I think Jerry called it the antidote for Intel venom if you recall. Since then AMD margins have spiraled downward as well as their Operating Gains. Now AMD has promised a Net Operating Loss for the upcoming quarter so it appears the strategy is not working. Although Intel ASP’s have declined whether from price wars or market conditions they have not forecast a loss.

Anyway, have a good weekend.
