O.K., Poet, listen up carefully here:

J was asleep. The squirrel walked across her head. So we have Asleep---walking----squirrel. An alternative interpretation could be, A---sleep----walking----squirrel.

There could possibly be others, but, as you can see, they are all pretty clever.

Poet, poet, my dear. And you a poet, a lover of language.

He wrote "Last night my wife (J) summoned me to the bedroom to tell me that after
falling asleep, something had run across her head."

The grammatical construction is that the something is what had fallen asleep, not J. So I suggested that the squirrel which had run across her head must, since it had first fallen asleep, be sleepwalking.

Awwww, it's no good if you have to explain. Forget it.
