I am happy to be an American in the beginning of the 21st century. I cherish the freedom, security, and prosperity that our system has promoted. I would not be a Republican if I did not think that more limited government and less encumbered markets were preferable to the regime currently in place. However, I think that our institutions are fundamentally sound, and that the political process is viable. I hesitate to characterize the mentality that could describe all of this as a slavish adoration of government, for fear of rudeness......
