Does consumer spending adjust to movements in wealth and income gradually over a period of quarters or within the span of about one quarter? The answer to this question could just tell us whether we will slip into recession later this year and next, or whether we will bottom in this quarter and return to our economic expansion next year.
Of course, there are two opinions on this.

What do you think? I am considering the evidence.

Hi Bill,

I appreciate your turn-around web page you sent me, it helped me to understand your thoughts.

It also helped me to take a step back and see the forest (the trend down for over a year on the S&P and the SPY)and not just the trees (the trend down over the past three months on the S&P and the SPY).

P.S. Hey I see you even got GZ thinking the market is going up. Remember, if your turn-around theory doesn't work out you can't give your son a hard time for buying CSCO:)
