mm....twenty years ago, I was saying the same thing you are now. It wasn't funny back then. It isn't now. Today, I'm three years from going on the teat. Believe me, The Sacred Cow will give milk for many years to come. Privatization (in the form of private investment options) will, sooner or later, make sense to those inside the Beltway. And its not a Dems vs. the Republicans.

Don't worry!

Check in to the Higher Education arena. They normally
do NOT deal with social security, (ie, they have their
own ret. system). In Colorado, you deposit araound
8.?% from your pay, and the states amount is around
11.? percent. PERA in Colorado is on of the top ranked
"funds" in the US. Don't pour your money down the
rat-tube know as social security! PERA = public
employees retirement association.
Signed,
Retired since 04/2000 and loving every minute of it!

OT/mindmeld, now you are a mean spirited guy if I ever saw
one! ( and Sen. Dashle will confirm this ).

" But it sure does piss me off that I have to pay
into a system, from which I'll never see a dime. "

You mean to say you don't feel good and generous and worthy
paying the Soc. Sec+Medicare+Seniors New Drug Plan
of 76 year old Mr. Jones Doolittle who now has an income of
$150,000 a year [ from wise investments :-) ] and is
currently happily golfing in Sun City Arizona?

Don't get sore if he forget to mail you a thank you letter
for your contributions to his happy old age + payment
of his recent coronary bypass, cataract lens implants,
pacemaker, defibrillator, artificial hip in the last 4 years ,
[ since all h i s his contributions to the system
run out when he was 72.]

cheer up now,
