Not to mention all the drug dealers and Mafiosi running around with suitcases full of cash.

I once knew a man - not a very nice man - who claimed to be able to persuade hookers to take checks, but I doubt that most hookers take checks. Likewise, the loanshark, the blackmailer, the hitman, and the politician.

My grandmother used to have a sign over her cash register that said, "In God we trust. All others pay cash."-g-

I suppose these days she'd take plastic, but they shave off 3%, so she'd still prefer cash. I think she had a 6% profit margin (restaurant) so 3% would hurt.
