RE:"I didn't say it belonged to Intel..I said stop the price war and if that means Intel gets some market share back, so be it. There is a time to make war and a time to make peace....AMD is not in the power position right now...so they should be pushing for peace."

It's not to the 21% (or so) company to dictate the price, it's the 75% + one.

Anyway, AMD have to set-up his production line and sell all they produce at the best price they can get. Period. I don't think there is more strategy then that. They are too small to control the market price.

Its best to know the nature of your enemy and know the extent of their assets before declaring war.

AMD have not declare war, they just try to sell there product in a difficult environment.

The only reason we talk about Intel at all is that the pc chip happens to be one of their products.

The only one capable of generating profit.

Intel, more than Jerry, is concerned with making money and will not allow a price war to go on indefinitely.

They make money mainly with stock market valuation. To achieve that they must be view as a real monopoly. To make real big money they need WS think that AMD exist only because Intel don't want have FTC at there door and provide that AMD remain insignificant.

For AMD the game is a lot more difficult. The only chance to win is mobility. They must make there move after Intel has compromise in one direction and have a better alternative and move faster because they are smaller. It take breath though.
