The concept has many permutations. Actually I started a website on it but never finished.

I see what you mean about the P3 selling higher than a P4.
Interesting.
On the other hand, this is a marketing anomaly.

P4s at higher speeds than Athlons makes it difficult to get top dollar for the Athlons.
A P4-1.8 fetches >$500 on PW...a 1.4 Ghz Athlon fetches less than $180. AMD gets no gravy there.
Intel gets a lot of gravy in server chips. AMD gets little, yet.
Intel gets gravy in notebook chips. So does AMD, now, but they are fighting uphill.
