Well, choice seems a good thing. For instance I could choose to always vote for the losing party and never get any government contracts. I could choose democracy in China and get a tour of new methods in Chinese persuasion. On the other hand, what if 1.2 billion Chinese suddenly choose democracy, decide they can have as many children as they want with their new found freedoms and start to reproduce wildly? Whay choice do the Chinese have but to accept the middle road, which xeems to dictate Hobbes?
