The intel report, in general, is a laugh riot. Did you notice that they added $800 million in new "goodwill" this quarter? (while making a big deal about excluding the $600 million in charges for existing "goodwill" from their pro forma earnings)

And, while "trading assets" are only down $320 million, "strategic securities" are down another $510 million and "long term" investments are down $47 million. Then there is the note that an additional $58 million in losses hasn't yet been recognized.


Dan, there have always been questions re Intel's accounting procedures and that also is true of a number of big Naz companies. I am not an accountant so I don't want to comment.

However, what I was looking at is the amount of cash they hold........as corrected by Pete, that number is $9.3 billion. That can keep Intel warm through a number of quarters. In the meantime, AMD is sitting with $1.0 billion. A big difference and IMO makes for not such great odds.
