Havent seen the first thing as to the 'value' of Spinco. (or more correctly - I havent paid the slightest attention to the comments about the 'value' of Spinco. I will be hanging on to the issue for about 18 months regardless.

First of all, I don't think there will be a spinco. What MOT announcement indicates, to me, is that the MOT is attempting to capitalize more on "the Qcom model" of selling IPR and industry standardization. It is attempt to get the business Qualcomm has been doing--buy stuff from us and all you have to do is put it in a pretty box; the components will work together. If successful, it will hurt both the chip business and the other business. I think a lot of it will depend on how good a package MOT can put together to give the most value. If handset makers didn't want to buy from Qcom as a competitor (when it was in the handset business), why would they buy from MOT?
