Text To Speach(TTS) it was. They said AT&T claims it is virtually indistinguishable from a human voice, overcoming resistance to the edginess engendered by typical computer generated voices, and played a sample to boot. Sounded great...and I could only hear the unnaturalness a bare hair. I'd have to guess this sounds better than Fonix TTS, making it the first one I've heard that sounded better. Is there a chance they can package it as cheaply as Fonix TTS? The report made it sound like AT&T thinks this TTS is to be a fairly big thing for them. Would they take losses to lock Fonix out of the market? And so, today's Fonix news release with Wind River is welcomed. ""We're working closely with Fonix because of their high-quality technology and cost-effective position in the marketplace," said Kamran Sokhanvari, Wind River's vice president of Global Operations and Services. "As the demand for speech-based interfaces in the consumer and automotive markets rises, we're taking our partnership with the leader in this space to the next level."" ""Fonix is committed to delivering the highest quality and most competitively priced speech and handwriting solutions available in some of our largest target markets -- the consumer and automotive development markets ," said Kurt W. Flygare, vice president of Sales for Fonix Corporation. "Speech and handwriting technologies are in high demand in the marketplace and our partners and customers are ready to implement them further.
