Here's some more gloom & doom from briefing.com:

"This week alone roughly 2300 stocks are expected to issues their quarterly profit report, this includes 31% of the S&P and 8 Dow components. Without some positive guidance or a sense that the situation is improving from companies, it may prove difficult for the market to get any traction as First Call has indicated that the pace of warnings for the current quarter is faster than that seen for both Q1 and Q2."
