"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"

Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

DMA,

Woouldn't that depend on the object of the love. Yes, God is to be loved above all, but we are expected, by Him, to love our spouses, our children, and other kinsmen, as long as they do not come before Him. I had not heard the concept of loving anything, other than God, to be the root of all evil, but am familiar with the common mistake the "money is the root of all evil" when in fact, it is the love of money that is, at least, one of the major roots of evil. Some of the things we see society doing these days is a perfect example of the love of money leading to evil.
