Re: "if intel would start generating losses then this 9.3 bil would be gone so fast it would make your head spin. "

Funny...Intel just predicted a reasonably FLAT quarter Q3-2001 (wrt to Q2 which had an $854 MILLION PROFIT !!) - while AMD just predicted they could easily post a LOSS this quarter.

Seems that once again, your fantasies are directly opposite of the current REALITY !!

Kinda makes YOUR HEAD SPIN, eh M.A.?

re: That can keep Intel warm through a number of quarters. In the meantime you think, eh? Ever considered intel's spending rate and decrease in cash while bringing billions in profits. If intel, granted unlikely, but if intel would start generating losses then this 9.3 bil would be gone so fast it would make your head spin.

Albert, do you really think Intel is going broke any time soon? Long before that could happen, Barrett would be replaced. Intel continues to be a formidable competitor.

With the Athlon, AMD has gotten the chance to get off the treadmill that has had it existing hand to mouth for years. AMD finally has gotten rid of its loser rep on WS; if it starts to bleed again quarter after quarter, the rep will be back real fast.....and I think that would be very sad.
