Yes no MD or FACR would have a clue in any entry level BSEE position. But in many cases a BSEE trained to analyze could quickly research medical cause and effect and render opinions. In that most who present themselves to a Doc get better anyway the BSEE I suspect would do OK. Part of engineering is also knowing when one does not know and referring to one who does know. Such a large part of medicine today is diagnosing and the reams of empirical data from each case and the tests and the diagnoses and the outcome can now be used to create a smart computer program that on average would be far more accurate than doctors on average. Using automatic target recognition in examining x-rays is far more reliable than relying on the fatiguable human.

Creating technology only happens when you get it very very right.

The technology created by engineers makes possible the size of the population we have today. Engineering methodologies and technology create the tools to allow the advance of all sciences.
