Wow, did you bring back memories: My father was a gentleman farmer, we lived in western Pennsylvania which is some prime country for growing corn. Your method is exactly what we did, except we didn't pre-mark, it really didn't take that long to find a dozen ears or so for cooking. I haven't had "fresh" corn in about 15 years. Thanks for that.
