Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply. I also was a OV4 owner, but I never made money with it, probably my fault.

I was curious whether OV5 actually worked (for real) with straddles. I have been thinking about OV5 but there are a lot of costs both initial and ongoing with it. The software, the background database, the Datavue quotes, the Opscan, etc. Not much of a price break ($200) either for OV4 customers.

Funny, McMillan is touting a different package on his website - PowerAnalyzer.

I'm currently doing a 2 week trial of Fontanills' Optionetics Platinum. It does similar things to OV5 for a single, reasonable monthly fee.

I'd be interested to hear your opinion.

Brooks

(Oops - sent this to myself by accident)

Hi Steve,
There is a fellow with a website that makes monthly straddle calls: www.streetscanner.com and seems to be successful at it.

The interesting thing is that he only makes them expiration week. The downside is that there isn't much time for the stock to move, but OTOH it doesn't take much to increase the options because there isn't much time value in it. What do you think about this strategy?

Generally, how days are there until expiration when you put on a straddle? Do they usually turn profitable long before expiration?
