By choosing stocks that are in "good patterns" or extreme fair values, and leaving the game when the pattern changes, or the sock is no longer a "value lay", investors could have done quite well. Look at the list of core situations suggested on this thread December 31st. One would have been kicked out (and not necessarily with a loss) from MRK and BA, and all others would have been winners, even when kicked out by a stop loss. One of those even made another new high today (AGM) getting actually over extended a little. Investor got used to "buying the dips", and to the virtue of LTB&H, and left a lot of profits on the table by not using stop losses.
