DACOM Commits to 20 STM-1s From Asia Global Crossing During Q2, 2001
Sales in Advance of System Readiness Marks Confidence in Asia Global Crossing As a Capacity Provider
HONG KONG, July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- DACOM committed to capacity purchases on Asia Global Crossing systems equivalent to 20 STM-1s during the second quarter, Asia Global Crossing announced today. The commitment comes prior to the Korea landing of Asia Global Crossing's East Asia Crossing pan-Asian system. East Asia Crossing is expected to connect Korea by the end of the third quarter.

Asia Global Crossing's East Asia Crossing system already connects Japan, Hong Kong, and Taipei. After the Korea landing in the third quarter, the system will link Singapore in the fourth quarter, and the Philippines and Malaysia in early 2002. Asia Global Crossing's strategy of partnering with leading local companies in each country East Asia Crossing connects, such as the joint venture DACOM Crossing formed with DACOM, ensures that it can provide city-to-city connectivity, not just shore-to-shore reach.

East Asia Crossing connects with Pacific Crossing, Asia Global Crossing's trans-Pacific system, to link with the Global Crossing Network, providing seamless access to more than 200 major business centers in 27 countries worldwide.

``We are very pleased with our capacity purchase from Asia Global Crossing. We believe that the city-to-city East Asia Crossing and Pacific Crossing systems will provide us with the connectivity we need to serve our customers' international data needs,'' said DACOM Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Unsuh Park.

``Capacity purchases by technology leaders like DACOM, as well as other leading providers in Korea, even in advance of our East Asia Crossing cable landing there, demonstrates the demand for city-to-city connectivity, connectivity that Asia Global Crossing will be the first to deliver,'' said John Legere, President and Chief Executive Officer of Asia Global Crossing.
