Oh, let me guess, "werefrog" must have been been dissing me? Probably more of those out-of-context quotes from my posts over the past few years. Guess I picked a good week to have him or her on Ignore!

Anyway, you're right. Anybody who was trying to wait until just after earnings to sell on that infallible money maker probably got burned, crushed in the stampede for the MSFT door.

Dave

"so much for the july earnings run that had never failed you before too... right ?"
"Right" It certainly worked this year, although it did not make 20 points like past years, it made 7 to 8 points in a recession year. You could have sold msft on earnings day and made over 4 points even if you have the buy & hold mentality. Had you swing traded msft during the last 6 weeks while you had impunity you could have made 30 to 40 points easily. I mentioned this play on this bb for 3 or 4 years. I did say sell "on or before earnings" and since I am not your money manager, <<You are responsible for your own trades>>
MSFT LOD Jun 01, 01 = 68.7
MSFT HOD Jun 28, 01 = 76.15
MSFT HOD Jul 19, 01 = 73
<post 44150 may 02, 00> It should move up from June
<post 49017 sep 07, 00> buy msft about June 1 & sell about July 19
<Post 57571 apr 21, 01> buy msft june 1 and sell on or before earnings in july
<Post 58374 may 21, 01> buy the first, actually the second trading day in June and sell on or before earnings day in July "never loses money".
