Hmmm...DPH could certainly fall back down to the $14 range...Like everything else, the perception when the economy will turn up again plays a big part...This is a difficult market environment to trade...

Details on the multi-year contract remain confidential at the customer's request.

Delphi will provide Subaru with its OnStar-compatible telematics module that integrates a global positioning satellite receiver, cell phone and digital signal processor. Subaru previously announced an agreement to offer OnStar in-vehicle safety, security and information services to Subaru customers beginning with the 2003 Outback. OnStar will be featured as standard equipment on all 2003MY Subaru Outback H6-3.0 sedan and wagon models. Delphi's telematics modules provide two-way voice and data communications exchanges between the vehicle and the OnStar call center. The module enables the driver to communicate with the call center using hands free operation.

The OnStar system provides these services:

automatic theft notification -- In the event a vehicle is stolen, a silent signal is sent to the OnStar call center, and an advisor can track the vehicle after contacting the appropriate authorities.
diagnostic mode -- If the driver experiences a vehicle problem such as a check-engine light, an OnStar advisor can remotely diagnose the severity of the problem and make a recommendation.
lock/unlock vehicle -- If the keys are locked in the vehicle or if the car is unlocked, a driver can call the OnStar center, and, after identifying himself with a PIN, the OnStar advisor can remotely lock or unlock the vehicle.
vehicle crash notification (automatic) -- When the front airbags deploy, the vehicle will automatically call the OnStar center. An advisor will open a voice channel to the vehicle, and if needed, dispatch emergency services to the location.
emergency services -- During an in-vehicle emergency, the driver can press the OnStar emergency button to contact the call center.
roadside assistance -- In the event of a flat tire, empty gas tank or other roadside emergency, OnStar can contact a nearby provider to get drivers back on the road quickly.
OnStar concierge -- OnStar can help drivers obtain hard-to-get tickets to events, order flowers, even plan a vacation.
Delphi's telematics systems can be tailored to meet the specific design requirements of any number of vehicle manufacturers.

Market studies indicate that 90 percent of all luxury vehicles will have telematics capability by mid-decade, emphasizing the importance of this rapidly growing market.

Delphi currently provides telematics hardware to several leading vehicle manufacturers, including General Motors, Toyota, Subaru. Delphi also is the world's leading manufacturer of telematics modules, producing more than 1 million units yearly.

``The flexibility offered by Delphi's telematics system allows a number of original equipment manufacturers to make these features available in their vehicles,'' said Robert W. Schumacher, Delphi's general director of Mobile MultiMedia. ``Delphi is positioned as the market leader to supply telematics systems to consumers worldwide.''
