Oh, how awful. So the Palm 805 will cost an extravagantly high $400 instead of a value-level $388. :P

Investors in AMD, CPQ , Dell, GTW, INTC ext, hope the average PC price stays above that level considering how poorly the things are selling lately...

Not with Palm's margins, it'd be a lot more than that. Consider, a Dragonball is $10-12, the display (monochrome) with touchscreen is another $15-16, case, memory and ROM is, oh, $20 or so. So a total bill of materials has got to be $50 or less, regardless of the amount of memory. And they sell for $100 or more...

No, that $20 or so extra translates to more like $50 and likely $100 or more to the enduser. And that would price it in the range of an iPaq, which has a much better screen. According to DigiTimes, the price of a 3.8" reflective color TFT display with a touchscreen is less than $80, how much more does a color Palm cost than a monochrome? Remember that there isn't a whole lot more to a color Palm except for the display....
